Softball is a spring sport, beginning in January. The Fall semester is our offseason where we work on improving basic fundamentals, team building, strength training and conditioning. We have a junior varsity and varsity team. At the junior varsity level our focus is to improve skills and grow the knowledge of the game to compete at the next level. At the varsity level it is the expectation to compete. Players are expected to perform their role to the best of their ability.

The game of softball is fast paced and played with high intensity. In our program we have high expectations and value hard work!

  • Baseball

At the sub varsity level our focus is to teach players skills and fundamentals necessary to be competitive.  We introduce our basic philosophies of hitting, pitching, throwing, fielding, and base-running.  Improvement, both as a team and individual is extremely important. Our goal is to prepare players to compete at the next level.

At the varsity level players will be able to showcase their skills. We introduce more complicated skills and higher end concepts of baseball.  Players will be expected to perform their roles to the best of their ability in order to help their team to win.

  • Track & Field

Track is a year-round class here at Terry High School. There is both boys and girls track teams, each having their own coach. The Fall semester is our offseason where we will weight train and work specific drills to increase speed, endurance, and technique in a variety of disciplines. The track season begins practice in early January and runs through Championship season in May.

    Championship Season:

    • District Track Meet: Top 4 finishers in the finals, in all events, move on to the AREA Track Meet.
    • Area Track Meet: Top 4 finishers in all events move on to the Regional Track Meet.
    • Regional Track Meet: Top 2 finishers in the finals, in all events, move on to the State Track Meet.
    • State Track Meet University of Texas at Austin: Top 3 finishers receive medals.
  • Golf - Year Round

Golf is a co-ed sport, meaning we have boys’ and girls’ teams. There are 13 spots for each team, which consists of:
2- teams of 5   (top for 4 scores count for the team score, while the highest score is dropped)
3- medalist      (only compete as individuals)
Golfers on a team compete as both a team and individuals while medalists compete as individuals. Golfers can win awards for being on a team that finishes in the Top 3 and/or as individuals that finish in the Top 3.  Our season runs from October through April. The golf team begins practice in the second week of October and practices 4 days a week. We spend Mondays and Wednesdays practicing at the school. While on Tuesdays and Thursdays, we go to River Pointe Golf Course to practice. Our first tournament is at the end of October. We have 8 tournaments plus district in our season. The district tournament is a 2-day tournament while the other 8 are typically only 1-day tournaments. To join the golf team, you just need a willingness to try something new, be okay with not excelling right away, and put in work not only at school, but at home as well. If you don’t have any equipment, that is okay, we can provide some for you.
